Ryyan Chacra was a joyful and dedicated friend, a brilliant and curious thinker, a successful young professional, a talented photographer, and a loving son. Most of all, Ryyan valued community and had a gift for uplifting those around him and helping them feel seen, accepted, and cared for.
But for how supportive Ryyan was of those he loved, he had a difficult time opening up about his own struggles with depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Ryyan worked hard to manage on his own until the diseases overwhelmed his defenses and he succumbed in May 2024.
In honor of Ryyan, the Ryyan Chacra Foundation aims to assist young people, and especially men, in opening up about their often hidden struggles with mental illness to avoid the devastating tragedy of suicide.
